messy mind / desky disaster / workdesk wednesday

desky disaster

Here's my current desky disaster -- at least eight projects erupted at once on the table yesterday (I think there's still a table here) and there are more in the hopper (more ideas always arrive in droves when there is nowhere to put them). My mind is equally messy today trying to figure out how to create digital repeat patterns. It is pushing me out of my comfort zone and I am terrible at following directions, but I am resolute on figuring this out so for now I must suffer (and so must my poor family as they always do when I am on a learning curve). Please, I need encouragement. I'm motivated by both coddling and tough love. For example:

"You can do it, Aimee"
"Baby steps"
"It's really not that hard"
"I don't even know what you're talking about"
"Such whining and kvetching"
"You've got this"
"Just keep Googling"
"Focus focus focus"
"Just think how marvelous you'll feel once you've figured it out"
"Quit crying in your coffee and do it"

etc...

Also, if you have a jumbo trash can to dispose of the desky disaster in the background, I'll take that too.

(I'm kind of needy today.)

...deep breaths :)

You may find this tutorial by Katrina useful to get you started >> http://blog.puglypixel.com/2011/04/21/pixel-pointer-learn-how-to-make-tileable-wallpapers/ and there's video to watch how so no need to read and digest instructions ;)

Meanwhile, may I suggest a big bin to put everything in and then go through one-by-one, or a series of mini-bins/boxes/tubs to put each project into? But actually, that desk doesn't look so bad - especially if it's just the one space.

But breathing is definitely best ;)

Aimee, I just finished your interview with Liv, and I, too, feel like you are a kindred spirit! There are so many things about you that I can relate to. Just today's post alone makes me feel in good company. So, I want to say thank you for sharing you, just the way you are. I want to say, "I know you will figure out how to create repeat patterns, because you are smart and figured out how to have a successful blog!!! I plan to return to Artsyville!!!

Great colors, but I have no idea what you are talking about. I'm sure you can figure it out, though! Barb #132

Do you use Illustrator? It has a pattern creation function. Just google patterns in Illustrator. If not, I'm still confident you're figure it out. Waiting patiently to see your results!

You are also kinda very funny! I loved your post, Aimee! Don't be asking me (me of the long-winded wordy sort) to keep your amusing dialogue string going or we'd be here two weeks and then what a pickle you'd be in and me feeling badly that I kept you from your efforts to focus outside of your comfort zone and learn new things while not making an even bigger disaster of what you call a table, but I call a dumpster. I think you need to be asking for a table, rather than a dust bin, if you get my drift.

There you go, made you smile. Made you sit back and take a breath. NOW you are ready to dive back in. Go for it! Your new motivation is that we are all coming back here next Wednesday and we expect a full report and a tidy up!

Wow what a lovely bright space. I find drinking wine helps me, I don't get the projesct just so, but I stop getting hung up on the detail! Just go for it and create.

Back again! Just been looking at your art work your lettering is amazing. I have failed to do funky letters in my journal, I just end up with my own handwriting.Do you start out copying different fonts styles or is this your normal writing?!

Hi Aimee,

HAAA. Love your post! I'm not the tough love type so go grab a cup of your favorite tea, sit and meditate for about 10 minutes and if you have a pet, pet the thing till it's hair starts to fall out! haaa

So, I've read an article about the pattern thing but I can't remember where and when.....

Love the colors that you use!

Happy WOYWW

Oh it is so good to find someone like me. I get into so many projects and then no space. I actually cleaned up my den today - and that will mean I won't be able to find something when I need it.
When I was getting ready to take Tadeo Turtle to a book signing I had spread into 3 rooms. My husband kept taking deep breaths.
I love your art work.
Blessings
