Got a little bit of it all today, from beautiful scenery to mind numbing landscapes through Kansas and Missouri, an unplanned detour to a fudge kitchen (and from there a diversion to a covered bridge), amazingly well behaved kids (they were well iPadded and Nintendoed, admittedly), flagrant violation of the Illinois speed limit, 2 hours in Indianapolis traffic and one inch from nailing a deer. I think that's enough for one day.

Whew! You wore me out! Glad you missed the deer. I once told my husband - who was hit in the rear bumper by a deer - that, as usual, he was driving too slow!
Two hours of Indianapolis traffic? I am so sorry. I worked late so apparently I missed all of it!
Thanks for sharing these photos of your journey!
Yahoo !!! Good old Ozarks. Glad you missed the deer. I hit one and all the damage it did was to my drivers side mirror...lucked out on that. Best wishes with the rest of the trip...
Those photos made me feel like I had traveled back in time.
Until I saw that dirt cost $60. Jeez. What a rude awakening.
Yes, deer are best avoided.
I just had to scroll back through a gazillion (wonderful) posts to learn you're moving to...Jersey. Wow. My husband grew up in Montclair and his mom still lives there. Lots of artsy culture and unexpected beauty for sure.
Cheers on your journey and all it contains.
Reminds me of my drive out here to Arizona, which was taken about this time last year. It really is beautiful!
And I have rebelled against Illinois speed limits a LOT. Practically every day of my first 27 years. *g*
you are so funny! almost got you a "rack" (set of antlers) for your new house...
good luck with the rest of your driving! i've never driven that part of the country - so' Il enjoy your trip pics!
awesome, aimee! xo

I am enjoying reading about your continuing adventures to NJ, and I love the shot of your kiddos, beautiful.
Good ol' fashioned America? Looks like you found it! Great photos. Drive safely!

Wonderful images! Happy moving.
Great pics! I would live to know what the heck rip-rap is. It's cheaper than dirt!
fun adventures! and i just love that somewhere there is still an old MOTEL sign in neon cowboy lettering.
You always make me want to come and visit. This is exactly how I imagine it from the movies I have seen.
These images are gorgeous, Aimee! Happy travels to you!
Thanks everyone for all the fun commentary & keeping me company on the ride! I can't manage commenting very well from my phone but when I'm settled with my desktop restored, I'll get back to everyone's worlds to catch up! :) xo
wonderful photos :-)
Hopefully you had a heart-stopping BLT at crown candy :)
I grew up not far from Crown's Candy Kitchen and I fondly remember their homemade ice cream and heavenly hash. We used to sit at teeny little booths (barely big enough for 1 butt per side) with a nifty jukebox selection gizmo that still worked. My grandparents said they had one of their first dates there. Thanks for the grand trip down memory lane!
