the state of things

the-state-of-things

This morning I was scrambling and swearing and searching through my files for something that still hasn't surfaced, but I did find this beauty of an old photo which could not describe my life any more accurately at the moment. Big changes in Artsyville are afoot. We're moving to the east coast (more details to come) but for now I'm living in a state of perpetual transit and an enormous mess. I shudder to think of the de-crapification of the house that awaits me. Start with laundry maybe? Anyway, it's going to be a wild, happy, sad and adventurous ride for the next few months and I hope you'll keep me company through it!

Ooh! Even your piles of stuff are crafty and colorful!

Oh my Goodness! Aimee, I have been there, and done that...2 different times with kids. Each time, it was a wild scramble to get stuff done in time, and the end crap was packed because there wasn't time to deal with it. Not the end of the world, surely, BUT I surely wish I'd had the time for de-crapification before each huge move. 'Tis a lofty goal, I wish you much luck in achieving it. Can't wait to hear more about the move! Although it's hard leaving beloved people and places behind, fresh, exciting beginning are also EXCITING!!!!

hooray, hooray.
esti just went through some serious de-crapification this summer. I'm sure she can help out with tips and throw some spanish swear words in for good measure :)

I'd offer words of encouragement, but I'm still mad about the whole thing.

Know you'll miss uber fun and cool Lawrence but I'm so excited you're coming east!

I feel a bit sad for you as I thought you loved Lawrence. I thought the photos of the place quite enchanting. I too thought the same as Jodi...your piles of stuff are pieces of art in themselves!

Hey, that looks like laundry day around our apartment!

Are you sure you want to move out here to the EC...we just had our first earthquake and hurricane Irene is on her way! Oy!

It's a great place other than that though....and we'll welcome you with open arms!

I'm with you, mama. We're moving to the NYC area next month. I'm overwhelmed, excited, a little nervous.

I'll be thinking of you as you begin your transition, and of course following along here :)

Wow Aimee! You're leaving Larryville! Oh my! And we only got to meet once! I hope you're moving to a place that will provide you with the same kind of inspiration that Lawrence has. I hope the transition goes very smoothly for your family and look forward to following the doodling of your adventures in your new home. Sending many good wishes your way. XOXO

i feel your pain. Moving sucks no matter what. even a 'good move' still sucks. but it is also exciting and a chance for a new fresh start! always two sides to every coin...I wish you the very best, smoothest transition. the mid-west will miss you and i am still cussing that we never got to meet. ah well, one day, as there is still always a chance :) xokp

A big move! I have so little mementos of my children's lives since we moved every 2 years or more often for the first 30 years of our marriage. I "decrapified" (love that term even if I always hateed when people said crap all the time)every time and now have one 12x16 inch box with childhood memories. It's not enough. Don't go overboard on your kid's stuff but throw out more of yours than you think you need to. Just keep those wonderful art supplies intact! Get the girls involved and they'll feel they are more in charge and less out to sea.
Good luck on your move. I hope it's smoooth sailing overall.

East Coast, eh? Will miss your photo adventures around Lawrence, but I think that has more to do with your eye than your location - looking forward to getting to know the quirks of another city soon enough!

My word verification is fooeries. likes!

Moving is so fun! It's adventurous, you get to remake yourself....I always loved when we moved! I missed lots of things I left but I always handled it like a new journey!! Cheers to you Aimee, hope all goes well in this transition :D

OH my, that looks like my life. Only my piles seem to be more random and less colorful. Boo. Hope you are moving next door to me even though Lawrence is way cooler than here. :) Hugs! -Shelly

Wow! How exciting for you! Sounds wild and amazing, and of course I'll be here with you (way way WAY east). But still.
:-) massive pile is awesomely funny. And disturbingly similar to mine ...

I love that even your pile of laundry looks colorful and artfully poised on the hamper! I think you will find plenty to love about the East Coast, but I strongly advise you to wait until this crazy earthquake/hurricane weather we are having passes! Looking forward to hearing more details about where you are headed.

I'm most certainly going to cheer you on and welcome you when you arrive. I sense you're going to find more treasures like that photo. And actual money! It loves decrapification. LOL

Holy crap! I find myself in the same predicament! We are moving to Oh Canada! How will I ever de-crapify my house? Thank you for going through the same craziness at the same time that I am. It gives me comfort.
