yesterday morning i was looking for a crafty way out of yard work. when my kids walked by with their arms full of branches, i had my excuse! i took the sticks, slapped on some liquitex, let them dry, bound them with a piece of scrap paper from my abstract adventure, and now i am very happy with my artsy sticks. at first i thought i'd use them as wall hangers or curtain rods, but now i think i'll just prop them up in a corner to give the room a splash of color. quick, easy, and (mostly) free weekend fun!

this reminds me of my kidhood pet rocks. i painted 50 rocks in my driveway and tried to sell them on the street corner. good memories of painting nature.

Lovely colours on a stick! You don't have Easter bouquets like we have? In that case you should decorate them with colourful feathers for next week! :-)

Fun project, lots better than yardwork! I did something similar a while back but wrapped the branches in strips of fabric. They were so pretty I propped them in a tall vase to admire. Of course they're all broken now. I might have to go wrap and paint some more!

Painting sticks is a great idea. My friends are always chewing on my favourite ones that I use for drawing in the sand. Maybe if I paint them they'll get the point and leave them alone. Thanks for the idea!

you wont believe this, but we did this just the other day too! Except we used the longest sticks we could find and they will be stakes for the garden. (assuming this hellish weather will end eventually, and bring growing-type weather, dammit)
