as suspected, i thought i'd need a sanity check before the year was up (the kids are still out of school) and it came in the form of being bitten by the resolution bug. it surprised me a bit, as i'm not normally a resolution maker. but i guess nothing better creates order out of present chaos than making future plans. this is a little piece i whipped up to help me through the list. (it's also in the shop as a print, magnet, and bookmark/wallet card.) so far i'm doing exceptionally well with resolution #1, Eat More Dark Chocolate Raspberry Sticks From Trader Joe's.
if you'd like to share one of your resolutions here (frivolous ones accepted and even encouraged), i'll draw a name on sunday, january 2 for a "this is the year" wallet card/bookmark!
happy new year!

this is the year that i run 4 half marathons. and i also hope this is the year i get a little lovin', if you know what i mean. ;)
this is the year i stop watching other people do the things i love & start doing them myself ... for a living. happy new year, aimee!
Well, last year my resolution was "Keep Being Awesome" (which I totally rocked) but this year I think I'm going to be a little more ambitious and go with "Do Epic Shit."
This is the year I hope to finish a dummy book and submit it to a publisher! Happy New Year, Aimee! *hugs*

This is the year I stop hemming and hawwing, and start doing some photography work. It is also the year that I will polish my toes a pretty color regularly, like at least every other week :)
This year i want to smile more
Have a happy new year aimee!
This is the year that I cut out about half of the things that I do. I'm tired of running hard all of the time and am ready to simplify! Happy new year!
This is the year I will start teaching art!
Shelley - I love both of the resolutions you posted!
Aimee I always love everything you do and you seem to bring to life everything I am always thinking! Uncanny! I hope your holidays have been amazing, and an early Happy New Years to you! It makes me so happy to call you my friend :)
I'm not normally a resolution maker because of too many feelings of failure in the past - grrrrr - but I will say I love my dog and she deserves to be walked. It would do both her and I a great deal of good to get outside. Just a thought :)
I hope this is the year I will fall in love with my body :)
I've never had a resolution before but this year I plan to exercise with the express purpose of transforming my body into something I love more. not for anyone else, not because I 'should', but entirely for my own enjoyment :)
I totally LOVE your resolution #1 LOL!
do more art journaling! {:-Deb
I can't top Shelley's answer, so I'll go with "amaze myself."
This is the year that I will kick ass. :-)
This is the year I get an agent / book contract!!! (oh, and finish the book too)
This is the year I will NOT have to have chemo.
This is the year....
I will practice my alternative profanities and try not to get involved with Valium as my eldest turns 13 and i turn to the wrong side of 40. On the plus side...i shall try and bake spectaclar cakes and talk more in the nasal tones of Kenneth Williams and acquire his wit.
Happy New Year Aimee....so pleased i found your wonderful blog (-;
If I have one it is not to have any! Have just been pondering on it actually. I have never been a resolution maker, I think to save myself from self-induced disappointment!
This is not to say that I don't like your lovely artwork as of course I do!
I was all ready to say "lose 50 pounds" but after reading your post, I decided to resolve to campaign for Trader Joe's to come to Tulsa! You have one in Lawrence? Now I'm jealous :)
This is going to be the year I start a saving account so that I finally can send my Inner Critic on a long sunny holiday with no return ticket!!!
Happy new Year my dear!
My resolution is to have a voice. And not be afraidof what others think about it.
Happy New Year, Aimee! Thanks for keeping a great blog and inspiring all of us!
This is the year.....I will SOAR!!!!!
Happy New Year!!
I gave up New Year's Resolutions and opted for Word of the Year. I do believe I have my word for the year but I am not fully committing until the first.
To answer your quote though,
This is the year I will live out loud!
I am just eating up all the replies. Great stuff ladies!
Some have me giggling so hard I almost bounced my cat off my lap!
After reading the comments, I'd have to say be more like Shelley Malone! Happy New Year!
My resolution or rather WORD for the Year is NOTICE, because I really need to notice where I can be more helpful. Do more things :D That kind of stuff.
This is the year that I will take time to enjoy doing art with my 6 year old niece Hannah at least once a month.
To dance at least a little bit everyday! XO
This is the year I want to do something crazy ... like write a (gasp) book!
This is the year I get married! Yikes! We got engaged in 2009 so it feels so funny to finally say THIS YEAR!
Anyway... it's also the year I lose a few pounds, but also work M&Ms officially into my diet so I don't go crazy from dieting and then give up and eat too many all at once. :)
Happy 2011!
This is the year that I take better care of myself
This is the year that I simplify my life and increase my organization, especially of my home
aimee, you are so amazing! i am catching up on all the goodness here. first things first, happy belated birthday SS!!!! i am way-behind-the-times!! hope you had the best bday ever! and holidays to boot :)

resolution: minimize "junk" around here is on my list along w/ learning to screenprint! woohoo
happy new year!
ps. i love shelley above, "do epic shit" <--- yeah!
This is the year I DRAW more!
2011 i will write and bake and read and laugh more- and i`m going to be miss undercover:)
Hmmm...My resolution should be to simply stick with my resolution(s). I'm not a fan of those buggers; however, every year at this time I yet ponder another one or two or three, etc.! Organization (and minimizing) the junk around here is tops right now. Lots of art journaling is also right up there!
HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY NEW YEAR (a wee bit early)! I'm not a resolution maker generally, but your "this is the year" message has me thinking. I'm already planning on an amazing 2011 where some of my goals from last year are being realized right in front of my very eyes, so I think I'll keep my resolution small, but important. I resolve to try to take care of myself a little better. A few less working hours and a few more hours taking care of myself.
Hope the new year is shiny, happy for you!
Hugs!
-Shelly
This is the year I'm going to get a handle on our budgeting. I started in early December with this resolution and I'm very committed to it. I'm also going to be creative everyday, not just for teaching art to my students, but for myself!
I usually do positive easy-to-do resolutions like "wear more jewelry".
ah yes. THIS is the year I
a.)run a half marathon
b.)get my haircut more than once
This is the year I donate/recycle/de-clutter! I have to remind myself that when I clear the clutter in my apartment, I clear my mind as well. :-)
this is the year this 60+ year old will begin an art journal! I can do this!
Wishing you the happiest year yet! My resolutions now include eating more dark chocolate raspberry sticks. I vow to alternate them with the lovely Trader Joe's dark chocolate travelers chocolate wedges. I also plan to have fun. Lots of it.
This is the year I actually start to tackle some of the ideas in all the wonderful art books I have on my shelf. I shall take them down one at a time and DO stuff!! Happy New Year to you and yours. xxx
Happy New Year....can't wait to see what you have for 2011...have loved your blog..thank you for sharing.
sherry lynn
Dang! Wish I'd thought of the "eat more dark chocolate raspberry sticks" one!
Happy New Year, Aimee!
Well Amiee, right now, I'm really wanting a BLT, so I'm going to resolve to cook more bacon! And I may even share it with my hubby. ;)
Much love and happy new year!
Sharon
happy new year, new & dear friend, aimee of artsyville. this is the year our friendship marches forward (& w/much love in my heart!), as do other seeds planted from 2010, with a sense of mystery & awe, as to how such wild seeds will sprout & swirl into this precious air we share.
lots of love to you!
My resolution this year is... to make no resolution! 2010 was a very difficult year - I was extremely sick, spent time in hospital and my 3rd pregnancy made it even more difficult so for 2011 I decided I'll just relax, enjoy life and don't allow stress to make me sick again!
Shelley's comment rocks!
As for me...this is the year I follow the path the universe had to practically hit me over the head with...combine my day job, teaching, with my art!
