every year we make pathetic cookie houses and what fun we have creating them! they all remained upright this year, so technically they don't qualify as truly pathetic cookie houses, but long ago the name stuck, so there it stays. you won't ever see these on a foodie blog, but all the same, it is an entirely relaxing and delicious process.
taking off the rest of the day, as i'm officially 4 decades even today, and it's time to call my mom because it's HER birthday too! happy birthday, mom ♥

Oh! This made me laugh. We only did them once, but made gingerbread slab walls. But the boys were more interested in eating them, and the gingerbread ended up really tough. It's so wonderful what you and your girls do together, and I love that you have than name for them....

somehow, your pathetic cookie houses are still better than the ones we make with a kit.
Last year we ended up with "candy boards" and the girls were psyched about them. Candy boards are what you end up with when you stop trying to make it into a house, and just decorate the cookie boards. voila!

Oh wow, sorry I missed your birthday (though I might have seen it on Facebook). I loved my 40s, you'll have a ball. I couldn't stop laughing at the cookie house - it's just brilliant. My daughter in law and I made 2 gingerbread houses and we could have rivalled you for grotty!!!
