art every day #13: penchant for a pendant

penchant-for-pendant-2

yesterday i had the yen to make a necklace. i don't have a load of confidence in my crafting skills so i thought this would be a good way to deal with that. i dragged the girls to home depot in a downpour and emerged with a long piece of wood, a saw, sandpaper and small eye hooks. it just seemed like a good combination and i went with it. came home, sawed off a small piece, sanded it, gave it a few coats of acrylic paint, mod podged a sliver of my handpainted papers on each side of the wood, and screwed around with the eye hook until it finally fit in place. swiped a ball chain from one of my other necklaces and was done. it's a rough attempt, but i'll still wear it.

off to traci bunkers' studio open house this afternoon. can't wait to look through her hand-dyed fibers since i just learned how to finger knit! happy weekend to you!

I'm envious! Tell Traci "hi" and be sure to fondle the yarn--

Pendant necklaces are great, and I love the colors on yours. I love that you give into your crafting urges when they come a-knockin'.

Careful with that saw, now.

Cute! I´m very interested in necklaces this year. Haven´t made any myself but bought some handmade ones.

I have had such fun now going to read all your "art every day" posts. You are one art dynamo, Miss Aimee! Good luck with the bizarre bazaar - you are going to fit right in - and that is a compliment! PS I absolutely love your dentist thing - I am limping through the weekend in pain from what I suspect is an abscess developing. The thought of phoning the dentist on Monday is Very Scary. My dentist is Very Scary. He says mean things about my teeth and scolds me. He shouts at his assistant. And I never get a goodie bag. (My friend has a dentist who gives her a glass of sherry to drink before she is treated. I kid you not.) Anyway, I am thinking of printing out the photo of your dentist thingie and showing it to him. I am not sure that he has a sense of humour, though ...

Looks to me like you are off to a good start! Keep going, some of your lovely words on there would make it even more delightful!!!

Glad you went with your gutt and dragged your kids to Home Depot, if for no other reason because now I know I'm not the only one to do that sort of thing! :) Actually, I think it's great for our kids to see this side of our insanity. Turned out great too. Possible gift ideas for Christmas sitting right there, and I'm sure you have enough left overs to make a few.

Your pendant turned out great. It looks like your art. You should wear it at the bazaar.
