my way

*UPDATE* 8/27 - your comments are cracking me up! i've put the nicer version of the magnet and the print in the shop; if you want the spicy one, just let me know in the notes to seller.

a quick doodly-oodle about what to do with naysayers, idea poppers, sunshine squashers, whatever you want to call them! most of us know at least a few, and if you're a parent like me you may have even found yourself in the wretched role of having to be one every so often. anyway:

my-way-3

i couldn't settle on one version so i'm keeping both:

my-way-up-yours

Love them Aimee! Second one suits me better though I think, I'm just not Zen enough for the first one :)

LOVE these!

second version is more me... even though one might be polite enough not to say it out loud

Nicky Linzey said...

Mmm - I would say the first one and think the second one!

Domestic Scribbles said...

So...who did you say "up yours!" to?

Curls O Fred said...

Yes, both are necessary! a good reminder to stand up for my way, and also to sometimes let others have their way too :)

aimee said...

i'd love to be confident enough to say number one while i'm thinking number two, but usually i just grouse in silence. and fred, you nailed it, it definitely goes both ways!

I'd combine them both:

This. Is. AWESOME.

The second one, I mean. The first one is probably more kid-friendly, but the second one is more my speed. Heh.

Ha!!! Love 'em both but I am NOT showing the second one to my 15 yr old. She'd like it a little toooo much.

I love them both! Awesome work!

I like them both, though they have very different feelings. The first one is so sweet, but the second one actually made me laugh out loud. I'd keep them both too--for different days.

Thanks for your comment. I've really worked on expressions.

How I would love to prominently display version #2 in my cubicle at work :)

joanne said...

love em both... I also love what Nickey said in her comment...she would say the first one and think the second one... i think that sums it up for most of us. :)

Christine E-E said...

ha! I giggled at the second one... I think it's pretty funny that you have such "innocent, adorable, colorful" artwork & then your last line provides that honest, "this is really what I want to say" ending.

it's a keeper.

ok...you just inspired me to hang a bunch of pictures on my wall the way I want and screw the rules.

Karen Blados said...

You've nailed it yet again!

If I still worked in an office, I'd hang the first up with the second mounted to it's back. I'd never be brave enough to say the second, but in my mind I'd know it was there.

cindy said...

i need both of them to remind myself!

Karen Blados said...

you should put the other one up in your etsy shop. after the comment i got on my blog this morning, i'll take it in poster size please.

aimee said...

karen, that deserves billboard size!

i like owning the power
of the first one being
about ME...
but sometimes i do need
a good venting
like the second version!

every
word
gets it's own frame & design ~
it is so fitting!

I'm also a big fan of "Bite Me" with a little lift of the boob or turn of the bum while walking away. Difficult to illustrate as it might be. I miss you, friend. Oh, busy fucking days that keep me from you!

My wife just tweeted this and I think she may have had me in mind. I'm a horrible person... all I can think in response is:

"But... but, it's *not* the way it's done!"

Queue OCD twitch.

qube, that is hilarious! thanks for the chuckle!
