if love reigns supreme around the world, then sweets cannot be far behind. and nothing steals my heart like an explosion of sugary delights from distant lands.
my two hard-earned degrees in marketing are truly worthless defenses against the tangles of color, the silly names and the mysteries of those exotic packages and wrappers. i have to buy them and i have to try them. a gummy candy or a starburst by itself gives me nothing more than a yawn and a quick sugar fix, but call it a pissing boy or sandwich juice and i'm lovesick.
so what shall we try first from this stash that mr. artsyville brought home from colombia last week? should we go for the obvious, choco break? meet the family of frunas? find out what on earth is inside that guayabita? or toss all caution to the wind and bust open that bag of bon bon bums?

I head for the bag on the bottom that kind of looks like marshmallows. I simply adore marshmallows. They're so light and fluffy and calorie-free ... hey, a girl can dream.
it is fun trying out all kinds of fun sweets :) enjoy
red licorice!
oooh eeeh aaarh ooops I've got over excited!
you had me at- your husband brings you home sweets from his travels... ;)
Reeses Peanut Butter Cups! (One can't find many o those in the country I live in (and I won't say how much they cost). But ohhh my!)
:)
just go for those bums, you know you want to.
there's not really much candy in israel. in denmark there's a whole brand making dog farts, cow dungs, seagul splatters etc etc. i love the cow dungs! why is it that candy can take being called all these names?
what's hamentashen? the same as suvganiot? D is crazy about those. in the month up to chanukka he eats like 3-4 a day. and then bitch about gaining weight :)
Oh you don't have to try them. I'll just ask Hector (my partner) and he can tell you. That way we'll save your teeth.
I'd love one of each!! No, make that three of each!
yes to them all! SUGAR RUSH!
guess what? I'd say: go for the bums, go for the bums (as I was telling jane, we need more scatological stuff around these here parts plus they are rojo fresa. how about that!!!!) and follow them up with a guayabita or two for good measure.
la la la la.
Have fun! And try to share with those girls of yours. You owe them, think of how many oreos you have confiscated (:
My personal favorite bit o honey all the way oh and peanut M&M's okay and reeses peanut butter cups oh and smarties and okay i'll stop now. Enjoy!!!!
yum! I wish I could try a piece of each with you! I go to an Indian grocery store in Tampa and buy all their candy to try too. I haven't done much other than their candy. It looks all so neat! I'd go for the chocolate first. I'm that kinda girl though. I love myself some chocolate. ;)
thumbs up on the bum! it turned out to be a yummy little fraise-on-a-stick, stuffed with bubble gum. same thing as a strawberry charms lollipop. but with a much better name.
the "millows" (marshmallows) are half gone. not by me. girls ate them.
on to choco break!
boy, that mr. artsyville sure knows the way to your heart.....what a great guy!! your sugar rush should last for days.....maybe even weeks....with all of that fructose goodness!! :)))
Its truly the Masmellos I'm interested in!
I love you and now, Mr.Artsyville, too. My little Bon Bon Bum.
:)
Mmm I'd head for the frunas, they look good. My faves here at the moment are Percy Pigs - I daren't open a bag (family size) or I'll eat the lot.
open them all at once and try one of each to start with!!! oh great :)
this is such a sweet treat for the eyes for sure!/might you cut them out like your magazines?..i wonder what silly sentences you could make!! enjoy this pinata of the world, dear one! (i typically start with chocolate, middle with chocolate, & close with, well, you got the picture!!).
I've yet to have explosion of sugary delights from distant lands ... sounds like I missed a lot in my life!
I am such a bon bon bum myself, but I can always use a choco break.
Follow up reviews please?
ha ha! That's an awesome love. I bought my brother a "lumpy bumpy bar" from Trader Joe's at christmas purely because I thought the name of it was funny! I'm curious to know how "pissing boy" tastes!
interessting... i got to say, i am not quite as adventurous as you are- because when it comes to anything sweet i am terribly snobby and nationalisic- dont ask me why!
Enjoy your colourful treat!
choco break - yuk. no bueno :(
Yeah! Can I try??? pleaseeeeee ;)
After 10 years in Japan I am still intrigued by the sweets, even just to look at, and how they are packaged as well.
I like your title, sweets are a universal language--- A perfect form of communication, and fun to study:)
Any and all are so good!!! Funny to see this post because I just picked up a book yesterday at the library called "Candy Freak".
I have hidden stashes of sweets around my house (trying to keep them away from the kids)...guess that makes me a candy freak and a selfish mama.
have a sweet weekend!
Now your husband is a man who knows how to please - I am SO impressed! I hope you enjoy every sweet bite of the stash no matter where you begin and end. YUM! :)
Bon Bon Bum!!!!!! IS that what one gets when one eats too many sweets??? Is that what I have already???? ;-)
A language I understand and love !!! Have a sweet day.

WAHAHAHAHA! Bums and pissing boys. Good gravy!
You've got a good man there, a good man.
