coldbound

school was canceled again because of the deep freeze, or so it's called in kansas. four winters in minneapolis changed my definition of deep freeze. but i'm being surprisingly zen about our second winter break and seem to be rolling with it. mostly. letting the kids roam and wreak havoc. managing to get little bits of work and play done in five minute installments. looking at things from artsy friends.

1-8-cigar-box

a groovy cigar box from ricë. thinking about painting a room turquoise. earrings i love. pattern from a new york stationery show postcard. a foam ball i collaged with bits of antique maps five years ago.

1-8-artsyville-bookmarks

printed & laminated bookmarks for my etsy packages.

1-8-pixie-postcard

a dear postcard from dear pixie. my elbows in the mirror.

1-8-valentina

detail of a gorgeous gift from valentina. muchas gracias valentina :))

1-8-daisy-janie-papers

a surprise stack of splendid patterned papers from daisy janie. i especially like the one that went screwy louie in the printer. thank you jan :))

1-8-road-work

no idea and not sure i want to know.

I could not work out why you were not sounding too chuffed about school-but then realised you are talking about your kid's school! Doodling week cancelled! I have been at school all week on the other side and secretly-well not so secretly, wished for cancellation! I love the doodle of the coffee/journal mix up below and the way you described that moment when you realised something was wrong but could not work out what! Such a weird and horrible feeling! Hope your weather warms up a bit soon!

that's a cute door sign...I just sent my babes to their bedrooms for a time out....why do I always feel so bad afterwards? Hmm...
LOVE the red framed mirror.
I must get my Etsy packages in order.

sounds familiar ... all I hear are sirens and what sounds like muffled radio calls. don't worry ... the boy is busy driving all of his police and fire vehicles around the house, rescuing the girl's snap dolls from dire predicaments. I wonder if snap dolls are tested by throwing them down the stairs in a kleenex box posing as a sled?

I think I need another cup of tea and a couple advil.

Have fun!

hang in there, it'll thaw out soon and school will commence!

Wow. You made a haul in the cool gifts department! So many colors and designs! As for the definition of cold, I guess it depends on what you have to measure it against. School stays open here as long as the diesel in the buses don't turn to jello.

Hardly into January, and the weather has been freakishly cold all over! Makes me feel old and wrinkly cuz I'm drying out like a raisin. My mom has been kvetching about cold from FL - but it's hard for me to feel bad for her when she also calls in Oct bragging about the temps. Cool loot haul mama!! Love Valentina's work!!!!

School cancellations, or in my case, another random Jewish holiday closure, really put a kink in the work flow. Alas, at least you have your laminator. And some inspiring new treasures.

Hey, if they're not bothering you - leave well enough alone...unless there's water or blood leaking under the door ;-) SEnding warm thoughts your way!

wow aimee, well, you've been busy with lots of colorful gorgeousness, so nice to see what all you've been up to on your blog - love those wrapped stones, and I have the same Ikea fabric in my hallway, and, and, and! so glad you are doing well and I can relate to everything you write, as usual, and thank you for sharing your sweet, funny, charming, doodling life with us all :) good to be back in touch!

Hi Aimee- how sweet. I love that you have been in a deep freeze there. I think it is all my years of teaching that I LOVE snow days. Even though they just usually make my life harder! I love Pixie and Valentina too. And the sign on the door is priceless.

hello there! I hope the freeze hasn't managed to drive you crazy inside the house. I'm sure my girls would enjoy some time indoors, but that's not happening since this seems to be the only street, town, place in the northern hemisphere that isn't snowed on. Although it's really cold.
I'm catching up with every blogfriend's posts, and it seems I've been missing all the fun :)

How fitting that you should have a map-ball. It seems the world comes through your door every day in little packages of awesomeness!

I think Artsygirl is building a road to warmer places.
