it figures that illustration friday would pick the disgusting topic of germs the week i decide to jump back into it. what's more, it only took me about ten seconds to come up with my idea which shows you how close i am to the gutter too. now is certainly the time of year to dwell on it, when school and germ exchanges are back in full swing. birds and cows and pigs may cause panic in the media, but let's face it - children are the ultimate germ carriers. nearly seven years into having mini humans run around our house, my husband and i are still astonished at how two sweet little girls can so continually and regularly knock us out of commission with the clouds of germs that follow them home. fortunately we love our germ carriers very much so we keep them around.

I hear ya! My germ carriers think I'm weird when I lysol their bags and lunch boxes, but I'm not taking any chances. Well, except with the hugs prior to hand washing. Can't seem to make that rule stick.

IT'S THE TRUTH! I spent two very "infected" years as a high school teacher. Once I stopped seeing 160 students on a regular basis, the sore throats and colds stopped. Thank goodness first year teachers are awarded additional sick days.
Great doodlwork and writing as usual...whimsical, clever and amusing...I am luckily a bit over that germy phase with my tween and teen-ager...but totally know and remember what you're talking about...
this is quite one of your best, i just ADORE the colour of this little face, green with germs. i can tell you we spend the whole day telling our little 3 year olds to put their hands in front of their mouths when they sneeze, the germs in that room must be uncountable.
I think every teacher should have this poster on her classroom wall...love it!

You'd think you'd be bullet-proof in terms of germs, but no. TwoBoo is just getting over his latest cold, and I feel some weirdness going on in the back of my throat.
P.S. I snicker every time there's a big local news panic about fill-in-the-blank infection going around the community. And then I mutter to myself, "you nasty, nasty people. Just wash your damn hands."
That's so funny-and so true! I have not got children but do work with them and I think that over the years I have had everything they have got to throw at me as they merrily sneeze and cough in my face and I selflessly wipe their little runny noses. I think it has had a good effect in a way though as I seem to have built up an immunity to most things! I love the girl's green face in this illustration-perfect!
it's official! i jinxed myself with this drawing. about two hours ago my birdiegirl came down with a fever of 102. i am not kidding. really i could not have scripted this post any better or worse. my husband wants me to do an un-jinx drawing immediately...
