it figures that illustration friday would pick the disgusting topic of germs the week i decide to jump back into it. what's more, it only took me about ten seconds to come up with my idea which shows you how close i am to the gutter too. now is certainly the time of year to dwell on it, when school and germ exchanges are back in full swing. birds and cows and pigs may cause panic in the media, but let's face it - children are the ultimate germ carriers. nearly seven years into having mini humans run around our house, my husband and i are still astonished at how two sweet little girls can so continually and regularly knock us out of commission with the clouds of germs that follow them home. fortunately we love our germ carriers very much so we keep them around.
cough.

Wonderful! I love your lettering style!
I hear ya! My germ carriers think I'm weird when I lysol their bags and lunch boxes, but I'm not taking any chances. Well, except with the hugs prior to hand washing. Can't seem to make that rule stick.
Love the illustration, of course!
We don't even have kids at home anymore and I still find myself wiping down door handles and railings. No way do I want what's going around!
Aimee, how fun! Great interpretation for the Germ topic!! Love your style... :) Silke
Excellent! And so true.
I feel I'm contaminated... by your humor!
I love that she's GREEN but has that little sweet smile...thanksfully their germs are not the only that's infectious...xox
Incredibly cute and clever. Love the lettering too - reminds me of art journaling fun.
LOL! Yes our kids are little incubators, aren't they? I'm glad to see you put such a pretty face on it! Chicken soup for all!
Ain't that the truth! :0
I think to "Le petit prince" by Saint Exupéry ??? and his sheep in a box !! Your box can be... magic or terrifying ;) Have a creative week-end ;)
You know what's sad, though? I'm always harping on the girls to wash their hands, and they're all fine and healthy while GUESS who comes down with the sniffles.
Banger of a re-entry to IF! Wooohoooo!
Very funny illustration, the text reminds me of those cheesy 50´s movies. Wondeful :)
Brilliant...love it!

IT'S THE TRUTH! I spent two very "infected" years as a high school teacher. Once I stopped seeing 160 students on a regular basis, the sore throats and colds stopped. Thank goodness first year teachers are awarded additional sick days.
Great doodlwork and writing as usual...whimsical, clever and amusing...I am luckily a bit over that germy phase with my tween and teen-ager...but totally know and remember what you're talking about...
this is quite one of your best, i just ADORE the colour of this little face, green with germs. i can tell you we spend the whole day telling our little 3 year olds to put their hands in front of their mouths when they sneeze, the germs in that room must be uncountable.
I think every teacher should have this poster on her classroom wall...love it!
Too true, too true. I say put them each in their own, self-contained bubbles. Ack, my phobias are coming out!
That's so true. I hope you're not feeling too poorly today?!
You'd think you'd be bullet-proof in terms of germs, but no. TwoBoo is just getting over his latest cold, and I feel some weirdness going on in the back of my throat.
P.S. I snicker every time there's a big local news panic about fill-in-the-blank infection going around the community. And then I mutter to myself, "you nasty, nasty people. Just wash your damn hands."
That's so funny-and so true! I have not got children but do work with them and I think that over the years I have had everything they have got to throw at me as they merrily sneeze and cough in my face and I selflessly wipe their little runny noses. I think it has had a good effect in a way though as I seem to have built up an immunity to most things! I love the girl's green face in this illustration-perfect!
it's official! i jinxed myself with this drawing. about two hours ago my birdiegirl came down with a fever of 102. i am not kidding. really i could not have scripted this post any better or worse. my husband wants me to do an un-jinx drawing immediately...
Well, she is the cutest little germ carrier I've seen in a long while he he he! Thanks so much for the you hilarious comments. You mad my birthday! he he he! I'm still laughing!
I agree, this is perfect and she is cute and I am sooo sorry to hear about your baby. I hope she gets better soon!
This is wonderful! You are amazingly creative. I have 3 snotty germ carriers so I can relate to this! I really love your blog too.
I just love your interpretation of this week's IF!

guess what, i finally got your lovely snail mail!!!(just blogged a picture) thank you so much!!! did you send another one? or did it just get very long to get here....?
anyway, hope you're having a good sunday with your germbags hehehehe
Here at home it is the hubby who is the germ carrier! And fortunately I also love him very much. ;)
how funny and true! my hubby is the germ carrier as well since he works in the hospital. he must be immune to it, but still brings it home for me :)
Hahahahaha...I do like your sence of humour girl...haha...lovely girls...
hee hee....you make me laugh every time i visit you (acutally, it's my daily "fix"!). i LOVE this piece, especially the green background, therefore making her sweet little germy face green....brilliant i tell you, brilliant!! :))

Great interpretation - I've got a friend who started working with children last winter and was ill for almost all of it - she was really healthy before!
very wise and true!

we're not all perfect, so it's good to accept it, and keep those two little germ-carrying cuties around.
So true. Another fantastic illustration--the green is very fitting for this :)
