new inked backgrounds waiting for something.

if only people would speak more loudly in public about their personal lives, i'd have more to doodle about.

i won jen's fabulous giveaway with a story about my lousy first day of seventh grade. i've watched her make these books in person and now i'm thrilled to own one for myself, as well as these other bitty bits of fun that she brought back from her trip to california a few weeks ago.

i keep gazing at my new painting from soulbrush. many of her colorful pieces are influenced by the years she spent in south africa. i love seeing how artists' work are shaped by their environment and experiences - especially hers. her soul really does come through her brush.

and now i'm gearing up for a big doodleproject - back to rapidographs, watercolors, and no room for error. no photoshop to catch me if i fall. i need to add a paper bag to my supplies here in case of hyperventilation.
i apologize for my bloggy laziness this week - i'm having the time of my life making magnets with bad words and deciding whether i should show them here or not. have a great sunday!

Hi,

you take the best pictures, they make me wanna drop everything and make something colorful! glad you liked your little goodies. and yes, you should show the magnets. :)
Super fun stuff on your radar- love the giveaway you won and the soulbrush painting. I am going to check out their links. And it is cool to see your inked backgrounds...
I wanna see the magnets!!! lol
Girlfriend, you are a technicolor powerhouse! Congratulations on that fabulous win. And Soulbrush's painting looks fantastic in your home. Complements the colors gorgeously. And rapidographs? Hmmmm, what are you up to!?
Magnets with bad language? Hahaha Yes, please post! That's what asterisks and photoshop are for. That reminds me of the buttons I used to wear in middle school. Once, I wore a button that said "You are cordially invited to sit on my face," and a teacher called me up to the desk and asked me if I understood what I was wearing, but I clearly didn't. Gawd, I wore that thing around everywhere. How embarrassing!
I discovered that my ink eraser was vital when there was no room for error. now go post the magnets!
Oh, I do loooove art supplies! Can't wait to see how you use them all! Soulbrush's painting does look great!
Oh show them, please!
Oh, you should definitely show them!
can't wait to see the new doodle project.... and I think i might just know what those magnets say.... show 'em, show 'em!
Hell yes! Show those $#@& magnets! ;)
I love bad words(:
Oh, oh! What is the big doodleproject? It sounds exciting ... The Soulbrush painting is very African - lovely colour and style! I think you need to make that eavesdrop doodle into cards - I would love to carry one with me to flash to people in coffee shops, as I am a longtime eavesdropper. Man, I must be getting deaf or something, but these days I usually only catch every 6th word. The other day I heard something like: "...dozen.....sex.....bulb....criminal" It is SO annoying, I still haven't worked it out. Two ladies, middle-aged. I mean, WTF?? PS Please show the magnets!
Hi Aimee,
I read about your blog in the spring issue of Artful Blogging, but being a procrastinator I am just now getting around to checking out your site. I love it! Ir's very whimsical, and I love the use of color you use in your lettering projects. Anyhow, just wanted to say hello!
All the best,
Tina Harris
Love love that painting against the red wall and mix of colorful books. Too perfect.
Who doesn't like eavesdropping :)
I'm looking forward to seeing your fresh batch of doodles!
Wonderful post with so many goodies -- can't wait to see what come of the backgrounds -- super-delicious win -- (please post the bad-word-magnets ;-) -- and laughed at eavesdropping.
Have a great day :-)
I really enjoyed your blog this moring! YOu made me laugh, which I needed desperately for this day's outlook.
can't wait to see those magnets :)
lots of great colour on this post!!
Those top pages look good and ready for doodling Aimee! What wonderful gifts you got. I'm going to have to send you and the little ones some splotch monsters soon here, when I get a chance.
Hope you have a good week!
i love the sign about eavesdropping. i once listened to a lecture where the author confessed to basing his book entirely on eavesdropped conversations. kinda brilliant...
As always, love your painted backgrounds.
About the sign in the park...I SO wonder what "IT" is?
...and eavesdropping, I do that all the time on the bus...you'd be AMAZED what people say when their on wheels!
welcome sarah, lynn, susan & tina and thanks all for the comments! i love eavesdropping - it allows me to hear about dramas without having to take part in them. i'm still wondering about that sign in the park, too. what on earth could 'it' be...
eavesdropping is one of my hobbies too.
