hello chicago

it was indeed time for a road trip! so i took off for chicago and had a great weekend with family and friends...downtown chicago is magnetic and there isn't a better time to visit than right now, when the skies are shining and the water is sparkling.... it is just as perfect in the summer as it is miserable in the winter. i was chasing my girls all over on this trip, so there wasn't much time for detailed photo documentaries or going to many of my favorite haunts, but we had a grand time in millennium park and even made it to the beach one day... and i met this lovely lady along the way - the author of one of my favorite art journal books and a super gracious host... a big hug and thanks to jennifer for a wonderful time in the groovy town of iowa city! and thanks, too, to my car for surviving yet another road trip with me...

Welcome back traveler! Love your photographs! I have been to Chicago several times but somehow never stop to enjoy the sites. I did enjoy great Italian food at the Italian section though. As usual I am awed by your artistic angle!

How fun! I too have only been once to Chicago, it being a stop for Amtrak as I made my way across the country by train. It was very early on a Sunday morning and wherever that train station was it was quite deserted!

Have fun!

Hi Aimee! Looks like a great trip. I love the Chicago Institute of Arts. I used to take the night train from Mpls (when their was one) to Chicago as soon as work was done on Friday night...visit realtives then spend all day Saturday at the Art Institute. then on Sunday, get on a bus home. Ah, youth. I don't think I could do that again.

Chicago is wonderful--and it sounds like you had a fantastic time. The Art Institute of Chicago has got to be one of my favorite museums of all time--there's just so much great artwork there. Lovely photos by the way.

i however don't think i'd like the city-ish chicago

it looks sharp professional and cold despite the blue skies :/
