cooking with color

if only this was a post full of inspiration to infuse color and artistry in your meal preparation. but if you're a regular reader here, this title probably made you suspicious, and you're right - it is of course an anti-cooking message. i did this one originally in black & white, but recently i've been feeling that it needed to be bolder and have a more prominent spot in the kitchen.

not too late to join us for weekword tomorrow - the word is SCALE. let thereza know if you'd like to participate, or in her words, 'if you fancy taking part'. gotta love that sweet britspeak! still no idea what i'm doing yet - it will be a surprise for all, including me!

there was a time... some point in the past i think... that i loved to cook... it was it's own art... and then something happened... some sort of internal earthquake or something... and it seems the kitchen counter near the sink has become the dining table and the extent of meal planning is asking myself a few questions... like what will make the least mess, take the least amount of time to prepare and to eat, and what will get me out of the kitchen the quickest and back to doing what i really want to do...

(*sigh... the laundry seems to be suffering the same fate, as i continue to see the mountain piling up in the corner of the bathroom...)

Oh dear, this is how I often feel! Sometimes I like to cook (about thrice a year - and it's becoming less), but mostly I feel it's a waste. I like eating though which is a bit problematic. Living on our own really helps - like last night we had some cookies which someone gave us as a gift for supper. This afternoon we went out for a burger, so tonight I had a lollipop and L'Usband a sandwich.

haha i love cooking- hate the dishes! i worked as a sous-chef to a brilliant guy in scottland. so i like to cook the kind of things we did. know that i can't keep that when we have kids though and probably will ask you for a copy of this ;)

love the colours and all of it made me laugh so much.

i am wrecking my brains- no idea - again! but i am determined... lets see if ill manage something ....

I KNOW, right?!!! Freeze dried astronaut food, that's what I say. And why not stock up on Depends, while I'm at it.

I live in one of those college towns myself. I got me a man that cooks. Thank Heaven. I do appreciate that there are women out there that won't assault me with recipes.

p.s. My first time to your blog (I think). It makes me happy.

hey, l'atelier! since joanne is having internal earthquakes, anairam is having lollipops for dinner, bella is eating astronaut food and aris wants nothing to do with cooking either, it looks like you will have to take care of us all - except for kim who thankfully has her bases covered. i will do the dishes.

and welcome, kim!

ugh cooking! the thing is, when you spend all of this time and mess on art, there is something to show for it. no one eats the art and just leaves behind a bunch of dirty dishes!

oh you know i love cooking....but i absolutely LOVE YOUR ART!!

yes aris and alissa - you've got it! and zahra, i miss you AND your fabulous lebanese cooking - just got lost for a moment thinking about it... so... you and l'atelier get to join forces and feed us all. all i could scrounge out of my kitchen tonight were microwave s'mores.
