wonderland

the prospect of devouring everything the world has to offer is tempting, but the truth is that i get overwhelmed and desensitized by too much at once. i prefer one flower, one chocolate, one conversation with one good friend at a time.

this weekword was chosen by lea. other participants this week were: cecilia, jenna, fruenswerk, trinsch, alexandra, chelsea, kristi, sandra dieckmann, aris, anairam and thereza.

now, i'm off for my morning espresso and to chase the song wonderland by xtc out of my head...

you're so right! i felt kind of overwhelmed myself by the thought of wonderland and all the wonders that this might include. so much wonder in a single flower : )

This is a wonderful interpretation - and very wise. I sometimes have to remind myself not to be too greedy - I just want to gobble up the sights and sounds around me, and often it does not lead to contentment at all, but rather to that sense of being overwhelmed and overloaded, which youy mentioned. So, here is to the single flower!!

it's so true... i think the word wonderland can sometimes bring to mind grand images of fantasy, and yet, there is the wonderland right in front of us every day, in the simple grace of a beautiful flower...

gorgeous artwork, color and words... love it :)

Oh, I completely agree with this marvelous piece. I get easily overwhelmed and flustered. I think I'd much rather sit and get lost in the center of a flower. Or better yet, a piece of your art. Talk about wonderland!

Beautiful and so true Aimee! I just read Anairam's interpretation and I love how differently and yet perfectly both of you have made this your own. Isn't that the wonder of creation?

There are tooooo many choices in our lives today. For example: You decide which coffeehouse to go to and upon entering are faced with a wall full of choices.
Once you make your selection, there are even more things to decide like skinny or fat or whatever the heck they ask.(I never listen to all that stuff).
I become overwhelmed and usually select the 'brew of the day'. There's a place where I can put in my own cream and sugar.
And all for just wanting a simple cuppa...whew. I'm with you...there is genius in simplicity!
