just arting around

it's been a gorgeous week so i've taken some outdoor adventures in between lots of doodles and chasing squirrels off my front porch. finally it's time to break out the summery dresses, gaze at the neighbors' flowers that i couldn't grow if i tried, and bring back the white wine - i had coffee with the fabulous pam taylor from present magazine a few weeks ago and she recommended this delish argentine crios torrontes by susana balbo. the stencil of evolution was an interesting find - someone painted it on the doorstep of a religious bookstore. i like that about this city - different beliefs and lifestyles coexist here without much of a ruckus. you can even wake up with a little hangover and people will still give you the benefit of the doubt. and i was delighted to find this flying moo cow, which was part of a tornado scene painted on the coffee drive-thru window. i was on the way to kansas city and needed a cuppa for the road.

a little weekword update: alexandra was the wordfinder this week and it is HOME. if you'd like to join us, swing by her world, let her know, and post your interpretation on friday. now, i'm just polishing off two ice cream sandwiches and i think that is a fine way to end the day.

Every single element combines perfectly - what a delightful day! I love that evolution stencil (especially in context) and the flying cow drawing! Great when people are able to express themselves so eloquently in a graphic way. That's one of the (many) things I love about lots of your creations too!

Great finds - as always! I hope you have a beautiful summer! (PS I must get me some of that blend - these days I wake up feeling hungover and I haven't even had anything to drink the day before!)

Little pink houses for you and me.... Haha, somewhere John Cougar Mellencamp is a-smilin'.

What the heck, Aimee. Lawrence is like Mary Poppins' carpetbag. It's a never ending treasure trove of ticklish sights! Beautiful peonies (so easy to grow, ssshhhhhh)! Love the bald head in the barbershop pole! And the ceramic shop is cute. Oh my gosh, all these sunny photos are fantastic!

These made me feel so summery, just as well as it's still chilly here, definitely not summer dress weather yet!

What super photos. The flying cow is great. It looks such a fun place. Ice cream sandwich? Doesn't the bread go soggy??

i guess i need to explain!! ice cream sandwiches are just scoops of ice cream between cookies or chocolate wafers. so no, i'm not eating ice cream between pieces of bread! gag! haha

what are these called elsewhere??

Ha ha aimee, silly me!! I thing we'd call it an ice cream wafer, ours usually come in between 2 thin wafers, but between cookies sounds much nicer. Yum!!

Oooh, yummmmm. I love ice cream sandwiches. I used to make them with toaster waffles, too. A little drizzle of chocolate sauce...a few nuts........

I recently learned that in Australia, popsicles are called ice blocks and cotton candy is called fairy floss. How awesome is that. Fairy Floss!
