a shred of time

being a night owl, rising before dawn doesn't happen too often. but when it does, i take advantage of every moment of the peace. i know that sweet little feet will soon pitter patter around upstairs and that time will no longer be mine.

When my children were growing up my favorite time was very early in the morning; I would make my coffee and go out on the patio, weather permitting, and just relax and meditate.

I'll make sure to take advantage of all the time I have to myself now :D BTW your art and thoughts are awesome as always!

Yeah, that's how i feel on weekdays, not really looking too forward to the sound of hundreds of tiny feet at 8 in the morning, haha! Geez, I need an attitude adjustment. I must think positive, think positive, heh heh.

great piece...your work is simply great!

btw, I'm trying to get some quiet time in the mornings...but it's a little bit difficult to wake up so early :P - i'm still trying though

"Hello" Aimie dear! That "time" you are describing is my favorite time of the "day"!

I wake up early, draw and sometimes Daisy our "puppy" wakes up only to want to sleep on the chair next to me in the "kitchen". I love that.

Notice I used quotations especially for "you"!

Hhahaha!

oh, to doodle late at night, contemplate my navel in the early morning, and zonk out in the afternoon... that would be a charmed life indeed.

ces, wish i could "be" (haha) as disciplined as you and the others to wake up in the early morning EVERY "day"... and steve? i'd recommend going back on the coffee... a whole room of little feet at 8:00 is serious business!

before i'm fully hypnotized by zari's little blinking cutie, i must go find those little pattering feet. i hear them and i think they're up to no good.

but first? more coffee and a rice krispie treat...

Such a great piece. Is that your hand writing? If so, it is so fluid and full of expression! If not, I would love to know what font that is....

Really wonderful!

Oh, you're right on, Aimee. In India, the time before sunrise is considered extremely auspicious, ideal for prayer and meditation. Trouble is, once I had my darling kids, the late nights seem so magical! ; )

Wonderful combination of text & color!

long after all of us children had been grown and left the nest my mom still basks in this time of day...as if there was something created in her from those frenzied days her heart still remembers...those times that were hers alone to just bask and be...with herself...

like you, i'm a night owl and rarely see the sunrise (and don't have children) but there is still something i relate to as well about those early morning moments...before the emails start or the requests begin or the "noise" of the world turns on for another day...something magical about having those moments just to myself...

beautiful art and wonderful observations...

I like early mornings with a cup of coffee and a notebook to scribble my thoughts on. I definitely like what you're saying here and the bright orange you used is fantastic.

I love your piece! Oh, to have that peace and quiet. My kids are both early risers, so I hardly ever get that bit of time to myself.

Oh my goodness - this reminds me of the time when the only quiet space I could get for myself was LATE at night with everyone gone to bed. That is how I turned into a night owl that stays up until 1 or 2 am ... Enjoy that time while you have it - whether early moring or late at night ...

I love the time when the rest of the world sleep-which is either really late at night (after 2.30am) or extremly early in the morning
that quietness is just the best- eventhough i don't have any little pattering feet, who might be up to no good.

Oh, so true, so true. I weep for that last shred of time.

My husband used to work really late, coming home at midnight or later. So I only got to see him if I stayed up. And with the dog and kids, I had to get up early. I was burning the candle at both ends, at it was really tough.

These days, I like to take the dog out in the morning when it's still dark out and quiet. Then I come back and relax for a little bit. But this morning, when I got back, everyone was up already. I felt...so....cheated. :(

Fabulous, fabulous piece. And it obviously speaks to many. This is a must for the store!

I love how "Tinyred" described it...early "molesskining".
I laughed pretty hard at that!! Clever that girl!

Hello, night owl buddy! Definitely enjoy every minutes spent at night when you up alone and creating something. Wondering why people still think us as strange.

i'm a night owl, too, so i'm usually still very sleepy when i wake up and can't appreciate morning:)

Those moments with our thoughts alone are rare, indeed! I am gearing up for an hour and a half when my young ones are both at school at the same time!

I agree, it is a magical time, to sit with a cup of tea looking out at the garden - your illustrations always bring lovely thoughts to my mind..

You seem to be the kind of person who can thrive in either silence or bustling activity Aimee. I just think that's amazing!

i love the early morning, too! i get woken up before 6 am these days with kitty paws on my face, and my precious quiet mornings are not so much anymore. :) i imagine it's much much crazier with kids!

Lovely, extraordinary how you phrase things that seem so simple and yet the words balance perfectly in your compositions. I have noticed type creeping into my work since I have been looking at your work.
