resolve

[saturday scribblefun with my ancient tria markers]

some people are great at writing strategic plans for themselves and sticking to them; i'm not. if i really want to do something, i don't plan. i just go ahead and do it. i only write things down if i don't want to do them but need something in my face to shame me into action.

now i'm a little high from the marker fumes so i think i'll publish this post and gaze at the ceiling for a while.

Hey Aimee... LOVE your drawings! Very cool stuff. I escaped from Wichita many, many years ago.

Haha! Those fumes do get you high if not to the point of retching. I am very bad at resolutions. I am just like you. If I want to do something I just do it. Sometimes I plan a little bit but most of the time I don't. I feel the same way about written resolutions, I am even worse because I don't feel shame, I just don't give a hoot. I do something because I have to or need to do it most often. At any rate whatever it is you want to do or not want to do, I hope you do it or not do it with style like your word art.

I like that admonitory pointing hand and I like your visual ruminations.

yup...i concur...no matter how many times i have tried to be a list maker or formulate a plan or resolution it doesn't do anything but mean it probably won't get done...

funny because i was in the art store today with my tongue hanging out at all the Tria colors in front of me...no way i could pick one so i didn't pick any...so like me...

i also concur with everyone here...your art is always amazing...

happy third day into the new year :)

Perhaps they are codewords to what we 'think we need to be happy'.

I have a hard time sticking to resolutions too. Trying to go about it a little different this year and just get my butt in gear!

I am past thirty ( yes yes i am not getting younger!)
and never ever made resolutions- this year i did, i came to the conclusion, that it must be the midlife crisis ;)
and those fumes - hmm the best, hope you had a great time staring at the ceiling.
enjoy your weekend
xoxoxo

totally agree aimee. i'm the same except that i always have the same resolution every year, just one: be happy and continue to do the things i love, including the ones that are not necessarily 'politically correct'.
oh well, life's too short :)

Oh nononononono. You never leave a paper trail.

I've set my self-expectations incredibly low, thus I've never disappointed myself. And you know what? While we're on the subject, I believe new year's resolutions are for procrastinators. Why wait?

All these colors make me want to get up and do the hokey-pokey! :D And I'm just crazy about all your little doodles there. It's all anything-goes and stream-of-consciousness there, and I love it!

yes!! lots of non-resolution makers out there. now don't just think about having a good day, just HAVE a good day :D

ha ha! i love this. and i totally agree. i don't set new year's resolutions-- i set intentions instead. ways i want to BE in the new year. it feels more gentle and positive that way!!

I read this quickly and thought you mentioned your ancient "tiara" - and it kind of looks like you're wearing a tiara in the picture. I like the idea of that: wearing a tiara while you paint/sketch. To get through a very rough patch of French theory in grad school, I'd wear a push up bra and read aloud in French. Kind of fun, but it didn't really help me to understand it any better!

Happy New Year Aimee! I love that you aren't the list maker that I am...
