have any of you figured out how to manage the comings and goings of that thing called inspiration? i haven't. it seems to have its own mind, its own clock, its own agenda. oddly enough sometimes i prefer it that way; i like the surprise of not knowing what will float in and out of my head and or when it will happen.
but when i only have one free hour and nothing comes? grrrrr.

I like your interpretation of inspiration, I never would have thought of a fire gypsy, but after seeing this piece it seems so fitting.
Fantastic!
so true, so true!
Whoooooosh! Wow, here she comes! Oh, Aimee, this is incredibly gorgeous!! I love the lines and the motion and the energy and the colors! And sorry, but I can't help but peppering this with exclamation points!
This is beautiful!!
And I know what you mean... the inspiration vs. time dilemma is especially difficult to manage when you work full time at non-creative work. I'm finding that evenings aren't my best creative time... but if that's all I've got, well...
p.s. love the colors. Red is my favorite.
ok, this one better make it into that etsy shop of yours, because it must be mine!
I agree with Jess - hope it's in the shop. The feminine (wiles) of this piece sums up how my inspiration ensnares me when it comes flooding in. Can't be resisted.
this one is a beauty - shop, please. i agree that inspiration can be fleeting. i'm also terrible about writing things down, which makes it worse.
Lovely piece...and yes inspiration does have a mind of it's own...mine seems to duck out when I look at a blank sheet of paper!
I wish she would come visit me :) She's a lovely thing!
thanks ladies :) the elusive gypsy will definitely be in the shop (unless she suddenly vanishes, as she so often does...)
very true, not that i get inspired before i start, i get inspired as i go along.i know, i know, why do i always have to be different. btw sent off your art today...hope it gets there safely.
it's like nature. Like a wave. and as you put it ... like a fire. But I feel that the more I work the more I am inspired.
i agree with alexandra aimee... the more you do, the more it comes... :)
yes it seems inspiration either gushes or runs dry, but if it's dry it does return!
how well put! and how beautifully put! its one of my favorites of yours definitly!
i actually find the harder i try the less she visits me... if i let her come and go when it suits her, she visits often
Oh, I know the feeling, especially when time is limited. For me inspiration strikes after a time of planning in my head, frustration and when I finally sit down and ....DO!
Gorgeous work!! Hope she stays for good. Like you said, you never know when it comes. I think you have to keep on cultivating it and part of your life - things you see, do, hear, etc - it all can be means for inspiration and creative expression.
happy thanksgiving, dear! i LOVE everything that i'm seeing on your blog right now: the photos, the signature Artsyville pages, the painting, the HEART you put into it all.
i am thankful to have you in my life!
xo
oh gosh, i completely agree. sometimes it would be so nice if the inspiration were regulated like having lunch!
This is beautiful Aimee. Sorry I haven't posted a comment for a while...Blogger wasn't being nice. (or was it typepad...hard to tell)
